Finishing with jamb door frame (with finishing frames around the door frame) is also referred to as the classic finish. In the past, door frames were almost always finished in this way. If sliding doors are included in the project during renovations, a finish with a door frame is therefore often chosen. The finishing frames can be made in a beautiful style that match the doorways of the doors that are not being replaced.
For sliding door systems that are finished with a door frame, a separate door frame is also required, which is placed on the inside of the door opening. With a single sliding door, this door frame ensures that the sliding door slides neatly into a recess in the door jamb. The door rubbers in the jamb ensure that the sliding door does not hit the wooden or metal jamb with a bang. No closing batten is required for built-in systems for double sliding doors. The sliding doors then slide against each other. In that case, the door frame will only consist of door posts on the sides of the cassettes and above the door opening.
On the side where the sliding door comes out of the wall, brush strips can be made in the door frame. These brushes have a preventive effect against dirt and dust in the built-in cassette.
A door frame can be made yourself. We supply separate door seals and brush strips for this purpose. However, ready-made door frame sets are also available. In that case, all millings have already been made and the door seals and brush strips are also included. Customization is therefore the only thing that needs to be done.
When the door frame is in place, a seam will be visible around the door opening between the door frame and the plasterboard or, if the wall is solid, the plaster. This seam is finished with a finishing strip.
BestFix tip: On our website we offer standard finishing frames, with a width of 7 cm. However, there are many types of finishing frames in different thicknesses. These finishing frames are available at any good hardware store under the name head laths or architraves. There are also beautiful decorative moldings with a beautiful relief, for example, a beautiful 1930s style can be achieved.
Usually the finish with door frame is sealed. Keep in mind that the sliding door cannot be removed so quickly at a later time. The frame will then have to be removed and repaired when the sliding door is hung back.
Instead of sealants, the finish with door frame could also be screwed, with caps over the screw holes. This way you avoid damaging your finish when you want to remove the door from the system.
