Without adjustments, the double sliding doors will open and close independently of each other. This way you can leave one door in a closed position, while using the other half as a passage. If you want to use the entire passage, you will have to slide open both inner doors.

However, with some double sliding door systems it is also possible to open and close the sliding doors simultaneously. You then operate one door panel and the other door simply moves along. This simultaneous operation is an option offered with sliding door systems that are finished with a separate door frame and finishing list.
